Patrick especially loved the Conservatory’s collection of orchids yet also appreciated the diversity of the gardens’ seasonal, tropical, and desert specimens. He kept a garden both in Fort Wayne and at his Florida home and cared for over 200 orchids while enjoying photography and the study of birds.

The Conservatory is a rescue center for endangered orchids and other plant species; in our collection we regularly display the Cattleya, Dendrobium, Oncidium, and Phalaenopsis orchids in the Tropical Garden. During his visits Patrick would share information he knew about the care of orchids and tropical plants and let us know of anything amiss he noticed in the gardens.

Upon his passing, the Conservatory received several memorial gifts from Patrick’s friends and family. Thank you Patrick for your appreciation of our gardens and being a good steward of nature.
