In 2021, the Williams remembered the gardens in their plans by naming the Conservatory as a beneficiary of ½ of their estate, with the other ½ going to the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo where they also served as volunteers.

The Conservatory’s share of the estate is expected to be almost $500,000. This unrestricted gift will help the Conservatory in so many ways ~ including improvements to the facility’s HVAC system and infrastructure and customer amenities.

In their volunteer service, Nancy and Chuck continued a tradition of selfless service to others. Nancy worked as a gift buyer in the Conservatory shop and served as a front desk cashier for many years. Chuck was affectionately known as “Mr. Hot Dog Man” for his joyful serving of hundreds of hot dogs to hungry customers at our annual Family Fun Day.

Both Nancy and Chuck worked tirelessly at our Plant Sale fundraiser, Nancy serving as a cashier and Chuck helping with carry out and preparing countless plant care signs.

In their professional lives Nancy was a traveling registered nurse and Chuck sold many types of insurance. They also enjoyed an active life of travel all over the world, particularly liking to tour many countries on numerous cruises. And at home they gardened and loved spending time together on their enclosed screen porch, surrounded by plants and nature.

Thank you Nancy and Chuck for your loyal service and wonderful legacy.
