Issued To:

A rezoning recommendation is made by the Plan Commission after a public hearing to the legislative body for final action.

Procedure:

An applicant who wants to change how a property is zoned submits an application to DPS. This application includes a survey of the property proposed to be rezoned, legal description, and other supporting documents. After a Plan Commission public hearing and recommendation, final action on a rezoning application will take place by the legislative body. Depending on the property location, the legislative body can be City Council, the Board of Commissioners, or a Town Council. A primary development plan or plat is often submitted simultaneously with a rezoning application.
