A secondary plat is reviewed and approved by the Plan Commission, or its designee, at a public meeting.


The review and approval of a secondary plat will result in the recoding of a mylar or drawing that serves as the legal document that subdivides property. This type of project typically results in a residential subdivision (like Arlington Park) or an industrial park (such as Summit Industrial Park). Permits are then issued for each lot in the subdivision, sometimes requiring a Site Plan or Secondary Development Plan review and approval. Projects of a certain size and scope as defined by the Zoning and Subdivision Control Ordinances are reviewed through the Secondary Plat process. In general the process includes the submission of construction-level drawings to DPS who distribute the plans to appropriate reviewing agencies that ultimately will approve the plans. Application requirements include a site plan with certain technical information, a legal description, and other application information as required.
